There's a saying "राम से बडा राम का नाम" The name of almighty is more powerful than the god. And there's also another saying that "जाकी रही भावना जैसी,प्रभु मूरत देखी तिन तैसी"means the kind of thoughts,emotions and feelings you have regarding the god you see the almighty in same form.

         Lord Shiva has infinite names and each name has its different story.and same is about Lord Koteshwar.

         Long long ago,there was a great devotee of Lord Shiva but he had a disease of leprosy also called kod in local language (कोड) and he faced lot of problems due to his disease in society and his devotion.so he praised the lord from his heart with all his devotion all his pain and Lord Shiva appeared before him and pleased by his devotion Lord gave him that whoever will bath in the water of koteshwar kund and worship the god will get rid of the disease.since then the god is called as kodeshwar but as time passed the name became Koteshwar.
